Technology

At Mesquite Dental Suite, we embrace technology that contributes to a more positive experience for you. Whether it’s diagnosing issues, planning treatment, or ensuring your comfort, our technology works to make your visits comfortable, stress-free, and efficient.

3-D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)

Traditional dental x-rays are invaluable. However, they can be limited because they only provide two-dimensional images. To deliver the best care, sometimes we need to see certain aspects of your dental anatomy, which is only possible with a 3-D image.

At Mesquite Dental, we use CBCT cone beam technology that delivers 3-D images of your teeth, jawbone, and surrounding structures. Using CBCT, we can see these intricate details for a more thorough understanding of your oral health.

This technology helps us accurately plan dental implant placement, evaluate bone density, examine the jaw joint, and detect abnormalities. We also use the 3-D images to plan orthodontic treatment and surgical procedures to reduce the risk of complications and ensure optimal outcomes.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays are essential to the comprehensive dental care we provide at Mesquite Dental Suite. We recommend x-rays as part of your ongoing care or to view parts of the mouth that we can't see with a visual examination.

This view lets us spot problems like cavities and infections in their early stages when they are typically easier to treat. And with early treatment, we can help you avoid the discomfort of toothaches and the cost of more complex treatments in the future.

Because they are digital, these x-rays also expose you to significantly less radiation than film. Since there are no hazardous chemicals to dispose of, digital x-rays are also environmentally friendly.

Intraoral Cameras

An intraoral camera is a small, pen-sized device that captures high-resolution images of your teeth and gums. As we move the tiny camera, the images appear in real-time on a monitor.

With intraoral cameras, we can detect issues, like cracks in your teeth or early signs of gum disease, that might not be easily visible during an exam. Since the images are displayed on a screen, you can follow along and see exactly what the dentist sees. When you can visualize the issue, you can better understand your oral health needs and our treatment recommendations.

Because these images provide valuable oral health information, we save them to your patient record for future reference or to share with specialists if necessary.

Digital Impressions

Digital impressions have revolutionized the way we obtain tooth molds. Instead of gooey paste impressions, we use an intraoral scanner. The scanner is a small handheld device that captures thousands of images in seconds as we pass it over the surfaces of your teeth.

The result is a highly detailed virtual model of your mouth in 3-D. We then use this digital model for different purposes, such as creating crowns, bridges, dental implant restorations, or orthodontic appliances.

With the detailed results we obtain, we can deliver better-fitting restorations. This minimizes your time in the chair and delivers a more comfortable final result. Because your impressions are digital, we can easily share them with specialists, labs, or insurance companies without needing physical molds.

Nitrous Oxide

Commonly known as laughing gas or happy gas, nitrous oxide is a sedation method we offer to help you feel more relaxed and comfortable during dental procedures. Our dentists often recommend this type of minimal sedation for patients who experience mild to moderate dental anxiety.

One of the significant benefits of nitrous oxide sedation is that its effects can be quickly adjusted and reversed. Within minutes of inhaling the gas, you will feel calm and relaxed. When we remove the mask, the effects wear off quickly. Since there is no lingering drowsiness, you can safely drive yourself home after your appointment.
